What is a Semi-Bespoke Veil?

It’s always been important for us that your veil is designed to fit you, not the other way around.
And that’s where a Semi-Bespoke veil comes in. Put simply, it allows you to easily tweak an existing Collection veil to make it perfect for you, without having to go through the full bespoke veil process.
If you love the look of a veil but it’s not quite right, this option is for you!

SEMI - BESPOKE LAURA VEIL

THE LENGTH
Changing the length is the simplest but most effective way of making sure your veil perfectly balances with your dress. We believe it’s so important to get the right proportion for your veil so it complements rather than competes with your dress.
Often petite brides are worried they’ll be swamped by a long veil, but we’ve had brides as small as 5 foot wearing 8 metre long veils! Like everything in life, it’s all about balance.

For many brides the standard lengths aren’t quite the perfect proportion or don’t quite match their exact vision. A Semi-Bespoke veil allows you to change any veil to any length and tweak the design accordingly.

ROYAL CATHEDRAL BELLE VEIL
Laura wanted the real wow factor veil to set off her Enzoani dress. She opted for the Belle plain veil in a 540cm Royal Cathedral Length.

Sophie had a very long train. She loved the Laura flower lace veil but the 300cm Cathedral Length was too short, and the 350cm Royal Cathedral Length was too long!
She opted for 330cm to give her the ideal proportions so that the detailing perfectly framed her train.

THE BLUSHER
The blusher, also sometimes called a double tier, refers to the part of the veil which covers the face. It tends to give a more traditional look (although don’t let your Mum’s puffy 70s veil put you off!) Any veil can be cut with or without a blusher. Generally if you’re looking for a bit more coverage, a blusher is a great shout - if you’re hoping for a sleeker look a single tier is for you.

JORDANA VEIL
Samantha loved our Jordana lace wave veil but she wasn’t as keen on the blusher. Because her dress had such a detailed top she decided she preferred the cleaner, single tier look as she also didn’t want the faff of a blusher during the ceremony.
She also faded the lace out at finger tip height rather than having it all the way to the comb. She felt that there was enough going on with her dress that she didn’t want the detailing to overpower and detract from her bodice, but she still wanted the drama in the back.

EMBROIDERED DETAILING
Jen wanted something simple, yet personal. She chose our Belle plain veil and then personalised it with lots of meaningful embroidery.
Throughout the pandemic, she had worked as an intensive care doctor and sadly, like many, had to postpone her wedding. When the time, came she wanted a little comedy nod to the past two years, along with the church they were to be married in.

THE EMBROIDERY
Adding embroidery is perhaps the most sentimental way of adding your own personal touch to a veil. Whether it’s adding something subtle, like the Isla name embroidery, a loved one's handwriting or even your favourite pooch, anything we can draw we can embroider. It’s such a personal way to make your veil even more special. We particularly like adding the Isla embroidery by the left hand - which means you can get the lovely shots with your ring!

THE DETAILING
It’s so important that your veil is how you envisage it - but it’s also about it being on budget. We’re always really transparent on pricing and brides find it so helpful to be able to have a comparative quote to see what they can get for their budget.
Generally this is about reducing the detailing - although many brides have opted for more detailing on veils like the Petra petal and leaf veil or the Jasmine scatter pearl veil, if they’re looking for just a bit more. Either way, it gives you the flexibility taking into account the amount of detailing on your dress.
Katrina loved the Nina floral lace veil but she felt like it might be a bit too much and it was out of her budget. She opted to reduce the lace by 50%, whilst still keeping the overall feel and style!
COMBINING DESIGNS

COMBINING DESIGNS
Sometimes one design just isn’t enough! Combining designs is a great way to make your veil really unique. This could be something simple, like adding the Jasmine pearl detailing to the Natasha satin edge or it can be something more dramatic. There’s no limit to what can be done and it gives you the flexibility to get exactly what you want.
LACEY + EMILIA
Ruby loved the Lacey lace edge detailing but also wanted the wow factor for her Claridge's wedding. She opted for the Emilia embroidery and slightly reduced in size to keep it in proportion with the lace. She also chose to have the lace faded up to the comb rather than faded out at calf height as in the classic design.

THE CAPE
Occasionally brides want the look of a veil but without wearing it in their hair - that’s where a cape is a perfect option! Any of our veils can be made into either a draped cape-veil, like our Colette bridal cape, or if it’s lace it can also be made into a capped sleeve design which can be pinned to your dress or have a centre clasp.

CAPE VEIL
Leona fell in love with the Elizabeth floral Guipure lace as it matched the whimsy style of her dress, but wanted a cape to give her the shoulder coverage she envisioned. It was a perfect example of a Semi-Bespoke veil being tailored to fit our lovely bride’s vision.

THE TULLE
It’s so important to make sure the tulle is right for you and your dress. Simple things like do you have claw set crystals on your dress? If you like the Julietta embroidered flower veil but had snaggy detailing on your dress, it would be better to switch to either the Illusion tulle or Crisp tulle. We are always happy to advise - it’s also helpful to order samples so you can see which tulle you prefer!
ETHEREAL TULLE
Sara loved the Natasha satin edge veil but wasn’t keen on the soft tulle as she wanted a more modern look. She swapped it to the Ethereal extra wide illusion tulle, so she still had an extra wide veil but with the look she envisioned.
She also changed her personalised veil to being a single tier.

SWAPPING THE LACE
One of our favourite things to do is to create an existing design with an alternate lace from our Collection. This works really well if you love the overall look of a design, but the detail isn’t quite what you had in mind.
THE JORDANA VEIL WITH THE LAURA LACE
Olivia created the Jordana lace wave veil with the Laura flowers. She loved the drama, layout and overall feel of the Jordana, but she felt the lace itself was a bit too structured for her whimsy wedding.
