SILK VEILS

Silk tulle originated in China and the process of creating it remained a closely guarded secret for centuries. The use of silk in veils was a symbol of immense wealth and status. It became a staple of weddings when it was popularised by Queen Victoria in the 1840s, with her pure silk veil. Since then, it has remained the chosen veiling tulle of royals such as Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle - and the most discerning modern brides.

A silk veil can be paired with almost any dress. The key thing is to ensure there is balance between the veil and the dress in the amount and style of detailing. It’s always about complementing and not competing, to create a cohesive look.

Within our Bespoke process, any style of embroidered, chantilly or alençon veil can be created. This could be a 7 metre long Royal Cathedral veil with edged detailing, a design with floating motifs or delicate embroidery. Within our Collection, most designs can be created in silk.

Yes! Due to the delicate nature of silk, if pairing a blusher veil with a tiara, it’s important to ensure the claw settings are smooth to avoid snagging. As every veil - whether it’s Bespoke or from our Collection - is cut to order, it can be created with or without a blusher.

If there isn’t a design within the Collection that perfectly matches your dress and vision, the best option is to go for a Bespoke veil. With a Bespoke veil there’s a wide range of silks available. They give a variety of weave, colour and width to ensure your veil perfectly matches your vision. We source silk from around the world, from Italian and French silk to options from a mill closer to home. We use a Nottingham-based factory, the same one that had also woven Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle's wedding veils.

Our silk veils are designed and handcrafted at our studio in Oxfordshire, UK.

Our Bespoke silk veils start from £2,500 / $3,250, while our Collection silk veils from £800 / $1,040. You can either order Collection pieces directly from the website, or get in touch to discuss Semi-Bespoke customisations.

If you’d like to try silk veils on in person, you can do so either at our studio in Oxfordshire or at The Wedding Club showrooms in London and Birmingham.

Studio appointments are held by Sophie in her thatched cottage based in Bloxham, Oxfordshire.
